Effects of Cortisone, Testosterone, and Alcohol on Various Organs of Male Mice

Abstract
For the assessment of the effect of cortisone, testosterone and excessive intake of alcohol on such organs as diver, kidney, heart, brain and stomach as well as femoral head, an experimental study was carried out in male¢¥ mice and the histopatllological evaluation of the results was as follows.
1) Decrease of body weight of the animal was observed in both cortisone and alcohol-treated group, while in the testosterone group it showed an increase.
2) In the cortisone-treated animal it was observed that the myocardium, liver and the renal cortex showed a localized necrosis and the gastric mucosal epithelium and glands sporadic ulceration, with little discernible change in the brain.
3) The alcohol-treated group showed localized destruction of the gastric mucosal epithelium, dilatation of the hepatic vessels, and proliferation of the bile canaliculi and the interstitial tissue.
4) The testosterone group was noticeable in presenting proliferation of the connective tissue around the hepatic vessels and the bile ducts, the myocardium and the gastric mucosal epithelium,
5) The femoral head showed that in both cortisone and alcohol group osteoblastic activity was present in sparsity. In contrast to that of the control, in the testosterone group premature closure of the epiphysis was noticed.
